About
One number, published clearly.
The egg rate is a small piece of information that a lot of people need every morning: farmers, traders, bakeries, caterers, hostel kitchens and households. It is published daily, but it is scattered, inconsistently formatted and rarely kept in one place with its history. That is the gap this site fills.

How the numbers work
Wholesale prices, dated and unconverted
Every figure on this site is a wholesale reference price for a single egg at a named market, stored with the date it applies to. A wholesale reference excludes variable downstream costs such as transport, handling, breakage and seller margins, so it should not be read as a fixed local retail price.
Every price on this site is stored as an integer number of paise per egg. Rupee amounts and the per-tray, per-hundred and per-peti figures are derived from that single integer when a page is built, which means no rounding drift can accumulate anywhere in the stack.
What we do not do
- We do not average across markets and present the result as a market rate. Each market stands on its own.
- We do not fill a missing day with an invented number. If a market has no newer price yet, its row keeps the last available figure and shows the date that figure belongs to, so a stale price is never presented as today’s.
- We do not publish retail prices. Those vary shop to shop and cannot be usefully centralised.
How the site is built
Two pieces. A scheduled service keeps the dated rate records and handles the daily refresh. The website itself is a fully static build: every page is rendered ahead of time and served as plain HTML, so visits do not depend on per-request page rendering.
The trade-off is that a static page is only as fresh as its last build, so the site is rebuilt after each daily refresh.
Corrections
If a rate looks wrong for a market you trade in, that is worth knowing about. Send the market, the date and the rate you have via the contact form so the row we hold for that day can be checked and corrected.
Data note
Read this before you trade on it
This site is an information service, not a price feed you should settle contracts against. Rates are published in good faith and can contain errors or lag. For anything binding, confirm with your mandi or supplier before you trade.
